Privacy policy
What data we ask you for, what we use it for and how we look after it.
Who is responsible for your data
INSUMOSONLINE S.R.L., CUIT (tax ID) 33-71652287-9, with registered address at Teodoro Vilardebó 1853, CP 1407, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, owner of aluminio.ar. Contact: info@aluminio.ar.
What data we collect
- Newsletter: your email.
- Enquiries by email from the tools: name, email, phone number if you leave it, and the text of the enquiry. If you attach a drawing when requesting a quote from My project or Upload your drawing, it reaches us by email together with the enquiry, only to quote it, and it is not stored on the site. By attaching it you accept the File upload and confidentiality terms, and we keep a record with the enquiry: date, version of the terms, your IP address, your browser, and the file name and a digital fingerprint of the file (not the file).
- Profile catalogue: if you download it from the profile finder, your email.
- Get a die quote: name, email, company and phone number if you leave them, your profile details and the drawing, if you attach it. That request is answered by Metrar: only if you authorise it with the form’s checkbox do we pass on the request, your contact details and the drawing, so that they can quote the die and for nothing else. The drawing is not stored on the site, and the time you gave your authorisation is recorded.
- Invitations: if you received an email inviting you to discover aluminio.ar, we use your email only to send it and delete it as soon as it has gone out. If you want to know where we got it from, write to info@aluminio.ar.
- Element 13 application: name, email, WhatsApp number, city, what you do, company and link if you leave them, what you tell us about your work, the photos you upload and the idea for your first article. The photos are stored outside the public pages and only the team that reviews the application can see them. We send you a copy by email. Nothing you send is published without your agreement.
- Element 13 member pages: if you join Element 13, we publish your page with what you agreed to show: name, specialty, organisations, education, a quote from you, your work with its photos, your social profiles and your articles. It stays published while you are a member: you can ask us to change it or take it down at any time.
- Element 13 community panel: if you join Element 13, we open an account for you with your email. We store your email, your encrypted password (nobody can read it, not even us), what you fill in under «My profile», the articles and photos you upload (outside the public pages) and when you last signed in. Nothing you upload to the panel is published until we review it with you.
- My project: without an account, your projects are saved only in your browser and we do not receive them, except what you send us in an enquiry.
- My project account (optional): if you sign in with your email to see your projects on several devices, we store that email and your projects.
- Drawings: the files you load in "Upload your drawing" are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server, unless you send them with an enquiry by email.
- Lingo, the site helper: what you type is used in your browser to find the page that helps you. If the artificial intelligence answer is switched on (Lingo says so below the box where you type), your question and the page you are on are sent to Anthropic, PBC (United States), which provides that service to us, only to put the answer together. We do not store your question: we count how many answers there were per day and what kind of help was asked for (for example, "weight of a profile"), with nothing that identifies you. Do not type personal data.
- Where you came from: together with an enquiry or a subscription we store the page through which you entered the site and, if you came from another site or from a campaign link (for example, the QR code at a trade fair), which one. That data stays in your browser only while the tab is open (it is not a cookie) and reaches us only if you send us a form. We use it to know which channels bring enquiries.
Leaving us your data is optional: all the tools can be used without it. We use two tools by Google LLC (United States): the Google Ads tag, to learn which of our ads bring us enquiries, and Google Analytics 4, to know how many people use each tool and where they come from. They load on every page and store Google cookies in your browser: the Ads one that remembers which ad you came from lasts up to 90 days, and the Analytics ones up to 13 months. Google receives the page you visit, the buttons you tap, searches within the site, technical data about your browser and device, an approximate location and, when you send an enquiry, subscribe to Doble Click or tap WhatsApp, a notice that it happened, without your name, your email or what you wrote. We switch off Google signals and do not use this data to show you personalised ads. Google processes it under its advertising policy and its privacy policy. If you do not want those cookies, turn them off from "Cookie preferences" at the foot of every page: Google Analytics stops measuring your visits and the Google Ads tag keeps working without storing anything in your browser. You can also delete or block them in your browser settings. The rest of the site does not load third-party services: fonts and programs are served from our own server. Apart from that, cookies are used only by the internal panel and, if you create a My project account, your session: they are technical, to keep you signed in, not for tracking. Your browser also stores some preferences, such as the light or dark theme or how you prefer to open WhatsApp on a computer: they stay on your device and do not reach us. If you arrived through an ad or a campaign link, the tab remembers the name of that campaign until you close it, so we can add up how many enquiries, WhatsApp messages and sign-ups each campaign brings, in aggregate. We do keep an anonymous count of visits and clicks (how many times each page is opened, which sites visits come from or how many times the WhatsApp button is tapped) and a click map (where on each page people tap and how far down they scroll, with the label of the button tapped), without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you: we do not record what you do or what you type into fields. To prevent abuse of the forms and of that count we keep an encrypted fingerprint of the connection for 24 hours, which does not reveal who you are.
What we use it for
Only for what you asked for: sending you the weekly summary, answering your enquiry, reviewing your Element 13 application or saving your projects. If you downloaded the catalogue, to send you commercial information about aluminium profiles: you can unsubscribe at any time. Enquiries are answered by the aluminio.ar team. We do not sell, transfer or share your data with anyone, including the companies that sponsor the site. There are only two exceptions: "Get a die quote" requests, which we pass on to Metrar with your authorisation so they can quote you, and judicial or administrative authorities, when a law or a court order requires it. Separately, Google receives the Google Ads and Google Analytics measurement data explained above. If you write to us on WhatsApp, that conversation is also subject to WhatsApp’s terms.
Where and how we look after it
The data is stored on our hosting provider’s server, located in the United States, outside the public pages, and enquiries reach us by email, a service that may also be outside Argentina. By sending us your data you accept that transfer, which we use only to store it and reply to you. Only the aluminio.ar team has access, with a username and password, and the site always works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: 2 years from when we receive them. They are then deleted automatically.
- Newsletter: while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email is deleted within minutes. If you do not confirm your subscription, we send you a single reminder and your email is deleted after 30 days.
- Element 13 applications: if they do not go ahead, they are deleted automatically after a year, with their photos. If you join Element 13, they are kept while you are a member.
- Community panel account: while you are a member of Element 13. If you stop being one or ask us to, we delete it along with your profile, your articles and your photos.
- My project account: until you delete it (from My project, with a button) or after 2 years without signing in.
- Invitations: your email is deleted as soon as the email has been sent. So as not to send you the invitation twice we keep an encrypted fingerprint (not the email) for 2 years; and if you unsubscribe, we keep that fingerprint so as not to write to you again.
Server backups are replaced periodically, so deleted data also ends up disappearing from them.
